Skate: In the Streets of Afghanistan with Skateistan

This article was posted by BrownBag 10 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, 10 hours, 11 minutes ago.

4 years ago Skateistan began and since then a skateboard community has started to grow and thrive in Afghanistan. For the little that they have for skate spots and skate parks, these kids have definitely got some skills. Not only is Skateistan promoting a positive physical activity but they are also an educational system. With 40% of the children in the program being female, gender equality is promoted, along with film-making, photography, and poetry.

For more information be sure to check out the Skateistan website.
