Skate: Tom Schaar “My First X” -  Episode One

This article was posted by BrownBag 10 months, 3 weeks, 5 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes ago.

Vert skating may not be the coolest thing anymore, but Tom Schaar’s 1080 on a skateboard deserves some serious respect from any skater. Keep in mind, this kid is only 12 years old and is now a world record holder. The first in a series of five episodes, we hear about the process of landing the 1080, which started as a joke and surprisingly only took 5 tries! Then we see how Tom brought his talents to the Asian X Games, where he pulled the 1080 in competition and won a gold medal.

Now we look into the future and wonder what’s next for Tom. Will he be stuck with the label of “that kid who did the 1080” or will he be able to shock us with something new. For the Summer X Games, his sponsor Element, sent him a board with his name on it, showing their confidence that he is pro material. We’ll have to wait and see what happens on June 28th, when the Summer X Games begins and Tom Schaar gets to show us more of what he’s made of. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him but I think someday we’ll be seeing a 1260 from this little guy.
