Skate: Vans Bowl-a-Rama in NYC

  • It was a huge weekend in NYC skateboarding with the 20th anniversary party for Steve Caballero’s half-cab at the House of Vans and the Love and Guts art show, featuring art made by skaters from around the world; all leading up to the Bowl-a-Rama contest at Chelsea Piers. Some of the biggest names in pro skateboarding were present for most of the events including, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Eddie Elguera, Rune Glifberg, Pedro Barros, and so much more.

Pedro Barros easily took first place in the pro contest. He’s one of the sickest skaters I’ve ever seen in a bowl. Not only was he fast with the grinds, but he flew high as hell and even managed to scoop up his fallen hat after a giant frontside air, mid-run. It was pure skateboarding madness. Alex Sorgente took second and Ben Hatchell came in third. Lance Mountain won first place in the Masters contest followed by Steve Caballero and Eddie Elguera in second and third. Check out the pro contest wrap-up via GardenGrooveFilmes and some of our photos from Friday’s Love and Guts show at Max Fish.
