SKEM Drops Knowledge in a New Handstyles Video From Bazooka Films 77
Our main man Bazooka Films is back again with a new handstyles video. Following up his JEANS vid, this one takes a more in depth look at the OG SKEM. Originally from Miami Beach, SKEM drops some major knowledge in this video on the history of the scene, the development of handstyles and his own personal philosophies on graff. And to top it all off he busts out some crazy hands, grilling not only on paper, but taking his skills to the wall as well.
It’s really fascinating to hear an artist break down their handstyle, the small nuances and individual developments that happen over a career that has lasted decades. The fact that SKEM can track down writers from every wave and movement, as well as writers from all over the country that influenced him. The dude speaks as a true graffiti historian simply from having lived through it all.
He also muses on how much cities like Miami Beach and San Francisco has changed over the year, facing new development and serious gentrification with an influx of money. He describes how it has changed how it has changed graffiti as well, with the classic places to paint, and the history held there, rapidly disappearing. It’s a notion that inhabitants of almost every city in America can relate to, and one that has dealt graffiti a blow in the past.
Make sure to check out the video above and hear SKEM say it in his own words. The man certainly knows what he’s talking about, and his full of valuable advice for anyone out there looking to get schooled.
