Sketch of The Day: LNY

By - Wednesday, August 21st, 2013

We first caught up with LNY at The Bushwick Collective as he was finishing up a massive wall he shares with Overunder. An artistic gypsy of Ecuadorian decent currently exploring the car jacking capital that is Newark, NJ, he has traveled the world championing the causes of indigenous populations suffering under the expanding reach of capitalist imperialism. Here we get some insight into the thoughts and ideas behind his murals. You can see symbols of the West with Bald Eagles and notations about Lockheed Martin, Goldman Sachs, no ideals, no values, and other prevalent themes in current society. Crescent moons are subtly placed among various images and animals while themes of man vs nature are developed through strategically placed objects. The potential for individual interpretation of each page is infinite. The more you look and peel back each layer to analyze each object individually and as a whole, the more you can begin to unlock the possibilities. LNY has a great video section on his site where you can connect with him and check out his body of work, both public and private and of course, he maintains a strong social media presence.
