Recap: Star d'un Soir & Saturation 2013 at Yves Laroche Gallery

By - Thursday, May 2nd, 2013

The exhibits Star d’un Soir featuring Stare NME and Saturation featuring Alex Scaner, Zek One, Philip Pun18, Cruz and Kems just wrapped up at the Yves Laroche Gallery, known for promoting local and international graffiti and street artists, on St. Laurent street in the Little Italy neighborhood of Montreal. Star d’un Soir features Stare NME, who, for the past seventeen years, has been one of Montreal’s top graffiti writers. He has participated in local and international shows, but this is his first solo exhibition. The show features a series of Polaroid-style canvases of Stare’s iconic graffiti pieces found around Montreal. The majority of the pieces shown on the canvases have long since disappeared, and this exhibit is a reminder of the importance of documentation for graffiti artists. Saturation 2013 shows off premium works by local Montreal graffiti writers Alex Scaner & Zek One, as well as Pun 18 from Puerto Rico and Kems from Boston. These artists are featured together to showcase their vibrant, colorful and appropriately, highly saturated artworks. Each artist brought their distinctive style, approach and skills from the streets to canvas. Stay tuned for future graffiti and street art exhibitions at Yves Laroche Gallery.
