Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia Reunion Show and New Museum Discussion

This article was posted by freshpaintnyc 1 year, 5 months, 3 weeks, 6 days, 2 hours, 25 minutes ago.

Hip Hop legends Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia recently did a “one night only” pop-up show on their original time slot (Thursday night/Friday morning 1-5am) and station 89.9 WKCR FM NYC. Widely regarded as the best hip hop radio program of all time, the Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show broadcast from Columbia University every Thursday night from 1990–1998. By featuring exclusive demo tapes and in-studio freestyles from unsigned artists, the show introduced countless MCs to the world, including Nas, the Notorious B.I.G., and the Wu-Tang Clan. The following day The New Museum hosted a discussion moderated by Ego Trip’s Sacha Jenkins. You can check out a 5-minute clip from the conversation in the video above. And for those who didn’t break night on Thursday, you can listen to the full 4-hour radio program below.

Great!
In high school we would stay up late taping their show.

Things just aint the same nowadays!

Mid 90’s greatest freestyle session in my opinion was Supernatural and they were giving him topics.
One was graffiti and he killed it.  “I’m trained on the tracks,,,I grab the can,,I spray a super natural tag.” all along making spray sounds and shaking rattles.People now dont even freestyle. They call written verses “freestyles”

Wish I could have been there for that discussion!
