The Newsstand Pop-up

By - Wednesday, June 19th, 2013

The Newstand, a clever concept curated by Lele Saveri of the 8-Ball Zine Fair can be found at Brooklyn’s Lorimer stop at the intersection of the L and G lines in Williamsburg. The pop-up, produced by ALLDAY EVERYDAY has been created to engage onlookers with international independent printed matter in addition to a variety of zines. Publishers who are contributing titles are; Desert Island books, Dashwood Books, Ed Varie, Jason Polan, Hamburger Eyes, Nowork, Miniature Garden, MOSSLESS, Pau Wau Publications, Peradam, Swill Children, Rumore Nero, Toilet Paper Magazine, Karma and many more, not to mention, the stand houses a machine that dispenses mini magazines at random created by various artists. Surprising commuters daily, this is a welcome space to spend time en route. The Newsstand opened to the public on June 15th and will be open weekdays from 9am-8pm and on weekends from 12pm-5pm. ALLDAYEVERYDAY encourages the creation of art for the purpose of self expression it is their belief that the physical nature of these products can create a deeper connection to the arts for the fans. During the month long operation, they also plan to host artist signings, releases, and other events. Follow them on Twitter for updates. #THENEWSSTAND photos: Jamie Falkowski
