Preview: SABER | The Ugly American solo exhibition at The Outsiders London

By - Tuesday, January 14th, 2014

After his European debut exhibition at The Outsiders in Newcastle, Saber packs up his show The Ugly American and heads to Britain’s capital for a encore exhibition at The Outsiders London. Deriving its name from the 1963 movie starring Marlo Barndo, Saber‘s European debut show, The Ugly American launches the 2014 year of exhibitions for The Outsiders London. Drawing from the movie’s themes, Saber‘s work aims to reflect the aesthetic of American society by trying to “expose the cracks of a self-centered and self-preserved culture” that he comes from. Those familiar with his work will recognize the flag imagery this time incorporating the Union Jack as well as his trademark Stars and Stripes. The Ugly American is composed mainly of abstract works in spray paint, oils and charcoal on wood and also contains the “Base Elements” print series. On display now at The Outsiders London location, The Ugly American runs through February 15th, 2014.
