Todd James Takes on a New Canvas: A VistaJet Luxury Plane

By - Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

New York City native Todd James (also known as Reas AOK) was recently commissioned by VistaJet and Bombardier Aerospace to paint the tail of one of VistaJet’s 60 million dollar planes. The private jet charter worked previously with graffiti artist Retna in customizing one of the company’s luxury 31-plane fleet. The collaborations reference graffiti’s history, linking back to Cornbread’s illegal tagging of the Jackson 5’s private jet. In this modern take, Todd James gets the unique opportunity to display his work on this pricey canvas. VistaJet and Bombardier are sponsoring James’ New York exhibition, Beyond Elegance, along with RVCA. The show opens tonight, November 13, at Valmorbida Gallery. With both an opening and his newly commissioned piece, it’s safe to say James is flying high right now. Text: Nicola Parisi Photo: Andy Valmorbida via ArrestedMotion
