Toronto's Struggle

{image-1} Interesting article about how one city is dealing with graffiti, making graffiti illegal and legalizing art? So the city of Toronto couldn’t differentiate between the two and actually buffed a legal mural. As a restitution to the infraction the city came up with category to define graffiti “letters, symbols, figures, etchings, scratches, inscriptions, stains or other markings, that disfigure or deface a structure or thing.” Now for the bad part! this provision empowers enforcement officers (art connoisseurs) to pass judgement on what exactly is “art” or “graffiti.” photo by: Carlos Osorio for the Toronto Star
