It’s been 13 years since college kids Shawn Fanning and Shawn Parker developed Napster, and changed the way music was shared on the internet forever. What many refer to it a as a revolution in the music sharing industry, the record industry saw differently. Napster was at it’s peak when they were court ordered, as a result of several lawsuits, to monitor the activities of the network and block access to infringing materials. They were not able to comply with these orders, and certified that what goes up must come down. Napster quickly shut down and declared bankruptcy in 2001, ultimately being taken over by Rhapsody.
