TSA Collects $46,918 at New York's JFK Aiport in 2011

The Transportation Security Administration is collecting a lot of change these days. TSA officials say agents collected more than $409,000 nationwide in loose change left by airline passengers last year. John F. Kennedy International Airport, in New York, netted the most amount of money with nearly $47,000 left behind. TSA officials say says most of the money comes from people rushing through security or foreign travelers who don’t want to take it home with them. The money allegedly goes to the administration’s financial office and can be spent on security operations; but I’m sure they’re actually spent on the segway’s the security in the terminals seem to ride around on these days.
