Vans Off the Wall is collaborating with Chris Kong, head designer at Garage Work Industries in Hong Kong, on a fresh and colorful Alomar midtop sneaker. Acclaimed for his vinyl toy creations, Kong brings his strong color and design sense to the table for this holiday limited edition. The bright color-way, embroidered lightning bolt, and checkered sole all reference ‘80s skate culture, the checkers also a throwback to some of the very first Vans. The sneaks aren’t all about aesthetic embellishments, though, they’re mighty functional. Kong uses pig suede and nylon for greater durability as well as heel tabs and lace covers. Check out the video that was produced for the shoe’s November release.
