New York it girl Vashtie Kola debuted the Violette New York x Beats By Dre Limited Edition “TAXI” Headphones at the Beats Store in SoHo last night. The store was bumping with music by Young Guru and Jasmine Solano and a live performance by Bada$$ while party goers checked out the custom airbrush piece Big Doves made for the party.
Vashtie a music video director, party producer and self proclaimed “lady of leisure” has directed and worked with some of the freshest people in the industry. After being Director of Creative Services at Def Jam she went on to direct an independent music video for “Us Placers” off of a Kanye West mixtape which after reaching over a million views on YouTube pushed her to the top of the directing game. She’s since Directed videos for the likes of Kid Cudi, Jadakiss, Justin Bieber and more.
When not being a director Vashtie Linked up with friend Oscar Sanchez to start an iconic monthly retro party titled 1992, which was nominated for Best Party at the Paper Magazine Nightlife Awards. Vashtie, never being able to find a brand that represented her style created her own clothing line, Violette, which debuted in Fall 2008 and is currently carried at specialty boutiques across the globe. She has also done collaborations with Nike, being the first female designer for the Air Jordan Line. Pretty fuckin’ impressive.
The fresh Violette New York x Beats By Dre Limited Edition “TAXI” Headphones were on display and will be available in limited quantities at the Beats Store in SoHo while supplies last.
