Music Monday: A$AP Rocky Helps Score Short Film "Baby Gangster"
Baby Gangster, the subject and name sake of director Luke Monaghan’s newest short film, earned his keep as a drug kingpin in LA during the 80’s just as crack cocaine was hitting the streets. It was a prosperous time to be a gangster in LA, but looking back Baby regrets the toll his lifestyle took on the neighborhoods
“I feel bad as a muh fucka right now when I look back and see that I was part of fucking up the Neighborhood that I say I love.”
The short film, aided by a score from A$AP Rocky, beautifully depicts the past and present stories of a West Coast gangster. Baby Gangster shares his life, from his involvement in peddling dope to his love of low riders, giving you a taste of what it means to be a member of his formidable “Majestic” crew. Though his days of bangin’ are supposedly behind him, the gangster mentality remains evident in Baby’s character, voice and mere presence as he reflects back on his life and work.
