“I’ve always wanted to have a VIA train in my basement since I was a kid” says Jason Shron, founder of high-end model train and accessories manufacturer Rapido Trains Inc. To that end, at the cost of $10,000 Canadian and at least 2,500 hours of build time, he’s done exactly that. The author of the book TurboTrain: A Journey has in his basement a section of a full scale replica of a 1980’s VIA Rail Canada coach complete with original seats, coat hooks, and trash can rescued from a soon to be scrapped train car. Ride along on a tour of the car but keep your mop in your pocket.
