Video: XXRoma 20 Years of Subway Graffiti Teaser

XXRoma has recently released this video teaser of Roman transit graffiti in celebration of the coming 20 year anniversary of the beginning of train graffiti in Rome. The eternal city (Rome) is a very unique place in the world of graffiti. It is one of the only European capital cities to have a subway graffiti scene that is very similar to New York City in the 1980’s. Painted trains run on the lines and very rarely get buffed by transit authorities creating a very vibrant and competitive scene amongst Roman graffiti writers. In the video above, you can see some documented examples throughout the decades of graffiti aging on the trains and the evolution of painted trains getting layered over and over. One might call this period a graffiti golden age and it deserves recognition by the graffiti world at large. Enjoy.
