The nature of good reality programming is to give you a glimpse of something you would otherwise never see, something real, something unscripted. I remember being a teenager and being mind blown by a video of the Beastie Boys smoking a bong in the back seat of a limo. That’s the feeling good reality programming gives you, a bit of shock that you are privy to view something very un-contrived.
Nowadays, when people see street art and graffiti that moves them, they photograph it. Thirty years ago, except for a few odd and brilliant individuals, nobody photographed graffiti or street art. These days it’s easy to find thousands of graffiti reality videos on youtube. Twenty years ago, Videograf Productions was the only project documenting graffiti artists.
