Wekfest V: San Jose 2013
Since it’s inception in 2008, the car show known as Wekfest (pronounced week-fest) has gone through many changes. The show originated in San Francisco and was held in a Japantown parking garage. As response to the show grew, so did it’s attendance; and thus the show was moved to Fort Mason. Attendees of the Fort Mason show added up to around fifteen thousand in 2011 & 2012. This past July marked Wekfest’s fifth anniversary, and also projected a very large amount of attendees. The show was then moved to the San Jose Convention Center and saw about ten thousand attendees. The Wekfest line is somewhat notorious for reaching lengths that lead out of the building; sometimes even around the building itself. What makes this show different is that cars that are showing are all local as well as hand selected based on an expansive criteria. The mission behind Wekfest is to bring the same atmosphere and passion for cars seen at WFSJ to other communities. The tour is now headed back on the road and hit the East Coast this past weekend. WekEast 2013 took place at the Edison New Jersey Convention Center on Sunday August 25th. Stops in Texas & Hawaii are also to be made, followed by the most recent addition to the Wekfest family: Wekfest Japan. Wekfest Japan will take place on May 11th 2014 at Port Messe Nagoya in Nagoya, Japan.
