Zine Review: River City Ransom Issue 1

By - Saturday, April 7th, 2012

The premier issue from an anticipated series of Graff zines by River City Ransom has recently been released. This 8.5” x 11” 52-page black and white monster zine is more Graff mag than anything, sharing hundreds of flicks spanning the gap between tags and burners, freights and highway heavens. Untitled and only in a limited edition of 60, issue one of River City Ransom focuses on Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania founded crew NSF in addition to a whole cornucopia of other worthy writers of equal clout such as Bonus, Mber, Hert, Jase and Dame (to name a few). In a more traditional reference to zine counter culture, this issue also includes a four-page hand drawn comic about two mid-western writers (Stanley and Dingo) who eat shit during a painting excursion subsequently stumbling across another writer, the notorious “DudeMan LissenBro” who schools them on graffiti and ultimately gets them arrested. Ironic and chock full of eye candy, this gem also comes complete with stickers and a full color poster for just $10.00. PayPal rivercityransomzine@gmail.com to swoop up a copy of your very own.
